Abstract

In the fourth quarter of 2012, the shipment volume of the Taiwanese mobile phone industry is estimated to have reached around 69.65 million units, up 50.6% sequentially. The industry's ASP (Average Selling Price) is estimated to have grown slightly to US$216 compared to the third quarter, thanks to the reduced shipment volume of low-priced feature phones and the massive shipment volume of mid-priced and high-priced Smartphones. It is expected that Taiwan's feature phone shipment is anticipated to continue to be impacted by the replacement effect of entry-level Smartphones. In the first quarter of 2013, the shipment volume of the Taiwanese mobile phones is expected to reach around 53.1 million units, down 23.8% sequentially, with feature phones disappearing from Taiwanese makers' product portfolios.
